On Monday 21st January the Meadowside Leisure Centre is introducing a new “Swimfit” fitness session, bringing gym style workouts to the water. Swimfit is an exciting way to workout, the coach lead session is ideal for people who are looking to improve their fitness or recover from rehabilitation in a controlled environment. The drills offer less impact but exactly the same outcomes as an exercise class or gym workout.
The four main areas the session will deal with are Health, Shape up and Tone, Fitness and Competitive. The session will take place between 6:00pm and 6:45pm every Monday evening and are suitable for people aged 16 years and above. The session cost is £3.75 each or £2.50 if you have a Leisure Pass. The session is bookable up to 7 days in advance and offer 12 spaces so booking in advance is advised.
Councillor Bernard Peters, Deputy Leader for Service Commissioning, said
“The Council takes the health and wellbeing of its residents very seriously. We have recently demonstrated this by becoming a British Heart Foundation ‘Heart Town’, become the first local authority in Staffordshire to receive the gold level in the Workplace Health Programme and being formally accepted as a member of the UK Healthy Cities National Network.
Swimming is a really great way to exercise; Swimfit is simple, fun and suitable for all levels of fitness. All you need to do is think about what you’d like to achieve from your workout, whether it be improving your health and fitness or training for a charity event. You then pick which of the four Swimfit areas will help you to achieve your goals and the coach will encourage you to get the best out of the training plans”.
If you would like to book onto the session or would like more information about the Swimfit programme, please contact the Meadowside Leisure Centre on 01283 508865.
