East Staffordshire Borough Council is pleased to inform you that the scheduled repairs to the Stapenhill gardens lower footpath, followed by the Hollows river bank will take place between the 1st July and 26th July 2013.
The bank beneath the footpath has been eroded away. This is a natural process from the flow of river. To ensure members of the public can continue their enjoyment of the footpath along the river bank, we will be installing gabions, which are essentially wire cages, hand-filled with large rocks, which protect the river bank.
To carry out the work the level of the river needs to be low, so we are dependant of some relatively good weather to complete the works to programme. We will do everything we can to complete the work, and re-open the footpath ahead of the school summer holidays.
