Due to the continuing poor weather, the Council has had to suspend its waste collection service from 6.30am on Monday 21 January. Unfortunately this type of severe weather does have an impact on our service as refuse vehicles are vulnerable to skidding, with the potential to cause considerable damage. Whilst we will make every effort to minimise disruption, the health and safety of our crews and the public in general has to take priority.
With more bad weather predicted over the coming week, it is unlikely that we will be able to catch up on all outstanding bin collections. We would therefore advise residents to return their bins to their property and present them for collection on their next scheduled date for that waste type (i.e. 2 weeks). However, the Council will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions and will attempt to collect the waste on a earlier day, if at all possible. Residents should therefore refer to the Council’s website for further updates. We would also ask that residents help us to spread this message by informing their friends and neighbours who may not have access to the internet.
If residents have insufficient capacity within their bins, they should store their waste in refuse bags. These can be presented for collection with the next scheduled wheeled bin collection of the same material type.
The Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
