Summer is just about here – and with it comes British Cycling’s Sky Ride Local programme in East Staffordshire.
On Sunday 1st June the popular cycling programme kicked off with a ride from Shobnall Leisure Complex to Burton Albion and back. The rides, which are guided by trained British Cycling ride leaders, will take place all over East Staffordshire throughout the summer.
Organised by British Cycling and Team Sky in partnership with East Staffordshire Borough Council, Sky Ride Local offers local people the chance to join organised, guided rides of varying distances and difficulties. Ranging from easygoing spins around picturesque parts of East Staffordshire, through to ‘steady’ and ‘challenging’ rides, for those seeking a little more adventure.
Councillor Robert Hardwick, Deputy Leader for Cultural Services, said:
“It’s easy to get out on your bike and enjoy the local routes in East Staffordshire supporting the council’s commitment to a healthier borough. There is something for all ages and abilities riding safely together from ‘easygoing’ to ‘challenging’. It is a great day out for the entire family to enjoy together.”
Jackie Brennan, British Cycling’s Recreation Manager for East Staffordshire, said: ‘Cycling’s never been more popular, and whatever your age or fitness level, it’s easy to get involved. We’re delighted to be working with East Staffordshire Borough Council to make it even easier for local people to get out on their bikes and have some fun this summer.’
