East Staffordshire Borough Council, Staffordshire Athletic Network and Burton Athletic Club are working in Partnership to organise a Beginners Running Group in Burton on Trent.
The group will meet every Tuesday at Shobnall Leisure Complex at 7.00pm starting on Tuesday 12th February 2013. The 6 week running course will run from Tuesday 12th February – Tuesday 19th March 2013. The cost for each session is £2.85 per week or £1.45 per week with a Leisure Pass.
The Running Course will give people the opportunity to start as beginners and become confident runners at the end. At the end of the course participants will have the opportunity to feed into Burton Athletic Club or Washlands Women Runners.
The sessions will be led by qualified leaders in running fitness, who will support and encourage participants to run to the best of their ability. The session is open to everyone male and female over 16 years.
To celebrate National Heart Month supported by the British Heart Foundation, Shobnall Leisure Complex will be giving participants attending the Run England Beginners Running Group there first session free.
Councillor David Leese, Deputy Leader for Partnerships, said: “As we start to look forward to spring, the running programme will give you the opportunity to improve your fitness. These sessions are ideal for beginners or for those who want to return to recreational running. The first session is free so you have nothing to lose, apart from maybe a few pounds. ”
