Burton Operatic Society are very proud to have been allocated the licence for Andrew Lloyd Webbers ‘Sunset Boulevard’ . We are the first society on the UK mainland to be performing this exciting and dramatic musical.
‘Sunset Boulevard’ is the tale of silent movie star Norma Desmond(Sharon Plummer) who longs for a return to the big screen, having been discarded with the advent of the talkies. When she meets struggling Hollywood screenwriter Joe Gillis (Lee Smith) their subsequent relationship leads to an unforeseen conclusion. Wonderful songs , an amazing orchestral score and real drama are what makes this Lloyd Webber musical one not to be missed.
