Women’s teams have exclusive use of St. George’s Park
All eight teams involved in the UEFA Women’s U17 European Championships met up at the National Football Centre in Burton upon Trent today, ahead of the tournament which kicks off on Tuesday 26 November at AFC Telford and Hinckley Stadium.
It is the first time ever the competition has been held outside Switzerland, and over the course of the next two weeks, England’s squad of 18 young lionesses will be joined by their counterparts from Italy, Scotland, Spain, France, Germany and Portugal for exclusive access of the National Football Centre with a total of over 144 female athletes training at the facility.
England coach Lois Fidler, said: “We have been preparing for this all year and it is great to finally be under way. I am sure the other squads will enjoy the facilities along with us. Our players are inspired by St. George’s Park, it is our home and we are ready.”
