Anyone planning to have their say at the local elections on 2 May has only a few days left to register to vote.
1st April marks the launch of the Electoral Commission’s public awareness campaign with Tuesday 2 April being designated as ‘Register to Vote Day’. This promotes the start of local public awareness which highlights the forthcoming poll together with the registration deadline.
The poll for the County Council election will be held on Thursday 2 May between the hours of 7am and 10pm. Polling cards have already been issued but you also can find the location of your polling station by accessing the elections webpage on the council’s website
17 April is the deadline for registering to vote at these elections. This is also the deadline date for applications to vote by post (by 5pm).
Andy O’Brien, Chief Executive of East Staffordshire Borough Council commented: “Please may I encourage residents not to leave it too late to register to vote– the deadline is Wednesday 17 April. Anyone who’s moved house recently needs to make sure they register with their new address.”
