Free Junior swims available courtesy of the Star Foundation
On Saturday 1st December the Star Foundation are offering children the opportunity to claim a free swimming voucher at either the Meadowside Leisure Centre in Buton on Trent or Uttoxeter Leisure Centre.
The star foundation had over 300 junior swim vouchers available on a first come first served basis. The vouchers were distributed at the Meadowside Leisure Centre between 10:00am and 12:00noon and Uttoxeter Leisure Centre between 1:45pm and 2:45pm
The star foundation raises money by recycling your unwanted items for clubs in your community, and schools throughout East Staffordshire. With your help they have managed to sponsor many young people, helping them achieve goals in their chosen activity.
Councillor Bernard Peters, Deputy Leader for Service Commissioning, said: “Children are welcome to apply for a free swim voucher, which the star foundation will send out to them in the post. However, for one day only we thought we would make it much easier by spending some time at the leisure centres where the children fill in the application forms and claim their voucher to use immediately.
“Interest in swimming has increased since the success of London 2012 Olympics and hopefully the scheme will encourage more children to come for a swim whether it is for some fun, to improve their health, or to encourage a future star.”
If you are looking to clear out of some of your unwanted belongings drop them in at a Star Foundation collection point and help to continue the free junior swimming scheme offer.
