JULY’S PACKED PROGRAMME COMES TO A CLIMAX

Uttoxeter Racecourse will take its summer break after an exciting finale on Monday evening (27 JULY).

It’s Gangsters and Molls Night – with prizes once again for the best dressed visitors – and the first race is due off at 6.15pm.

Thursday afternoon’s fare was the annual Summer Garden Party.

On the track, the Irish-trained Cooksgrove Lady was sent off a red-hot 1-5 odds-on favourite for the opening Byrkley Garden Centre Novices’ Hurdle and won readily.

The mare’s trainer Gordon Elliott made it two winners for the afternoon when another odds-on shot Dirar (4-5) came out on top in the Weatherbys bettrends.co.uk Handicap Hurdle.

Trainer David Pipe and jockey Tom Scudamore teamed up for a double with two 4-1 chances – Armenian Boy in the 20/20 Cricket Final In A 6box.co.uk Beginners’ Chase and Brousse En Feux in the Severn Valley Catering Selling Hurdle.

The third odds-on market leader of the afternoon to win was Agglestone Rock (1-2) in the GRS Handicap Chase, while the closing Anyone For Pimm’s Conditional Jockeys’ Novices’ Handicap Hurdle went to 100-30 favourite Danish Monarch.
