Tonight in Burton there’s a choice of live music and comedy with Mel Paul and Mary Lacey performing at The Northern Renegades, The Pete Allen Jazz Band at Burton Jazz Club and live stand-up comedy at The Wetmore Whistle.

Tomorrow (Friday), there’s a wags and chaps charity night at Little Venice where although you probably won’t get to see Mr & Mrs Beckham, Cheryl Cole or that woman I’ve never heard of but has recently been booted out of the jungle, you can still have a great night and help the Footprints Orphanage Charity.

There’s also a Derby County book signing, a Christmas Fayre (I’ve always wondered what you have to do to make a Fair into a Fayre!) at Rykneld School, a Christmas demonstration from Burton Floral Art Society, and Dick Whittington will be turning again at The Meadowside.

On Saturday there’s a chance to meet the horses and ponies in a Christmas Fun Day at the Blue Cincote and there’s a choral concert by candlelight in Doveridge.

Also, on Saturday, you could spend nearly all day at the Town Hall as there’s a chance to share coffee and mince pies with the Mayor in the morning and a tribute concert, live band and 60′s style disco in the evening.

On Sunday a combined choir and orchestra of around 85 are performing Handel’s Messiah in Swadlincote and at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas there’s a Reindeer Parade and the opening of Santa’s Grotto.

Cineworld cinema highlights this week include ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’, ‘Transporter 3′, ‘The Children’ and ‘Quantum of Solace’.

As usual, details of all the above can be found on the InBurton What’s On page.
