Members of the Burton Chinese Community Association will be showing children how to make beautiful lanterns from everyday objects at a special half term event next week.
On Thursday, October 30th, Burton Library will be hosting the free Chinese Lantern Making workshops starting at 3.00pm, 4.00pm and 5.00pm, which will end with a dazzling light Parade outside the library from 6.00pm.
Make your own Chinese lantern to use in our parade and then take it home.
Places on each workshop are limited so please call Burton Library on 01283 239556 to book your place. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
All the children who take part and make a lantern will have the chance to get it lit and take part in the parade. Please wear warm clothes and appropriate footwear.
The parade will start at the side of the library, outside the café, and the route will take us around the Abbot’s Garden (weather permitting).
Everyone is welcome to come and watch the lantern parade even if they haven’t taken part in the workshops.
The library and café are open until 8.00pm so why not have a bite to eat or a warm drink before or after the lantern parade.
This is a joint event from East Staffordshire Borough Council’s Parks and Countryside team, Burton Chinese Community Association and Burton Library.
