Sat 6th & Sun 7th September - Old Talbot Beer Festival in Hilton
The 2nd Old Talbot Beer Festival and Charity Weekend
The first ever Old Talbot Beer Festival was held over a weekend in early September 2007 and was a great success. The primary aim of the Festival was to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. We raised around £4,000 over the weekend from auctions, raffles, barbeque and other stalls plus support sponsorship and general donations.
As a fun event, the beer festival was a complete success with over 700 pints of real ales being consumed from the beer tent over the two days. A number of bands played over the weekend and we were able to give some new bands and artists their first major public performance.
So, the second Old Talbot Beer Festival is planned for the 6th and 7th September 2008.

This year we are helping the Hilton Scouts and Guides fund raising efforts. For many years the Hilton Scouts and Guides had to meet in a building that was, very simply, well past its sell by date. As a result of a massive effort by the Scouts and Guides they have raised sufficient funds for a brand new building and construction work is well on the way. They are hoping that by the end of the summer the external works will be completed. Sadly they have very limited funding and have a short-fall that will prevent them to internally finish and complete the building or buy equipment that they will need. The hope is that the events over the Beer Festival weekend will raise funding to help complete a major community project for Hilton and its Scouts and Guides. There is also a hope that businesses or people in the community may be able to donate equipment or their own time to help complete this important project.
The 2nd Old Talbot Beer Festival will have even more real ales than last year with selections from both CAMRA and SIBA award wining brewers from all over the UK. There will also be a wider selection of bands over the weekend as well a raffle, auction, an awesome barbeque along with other stalls and events. Many of the bands are returning for a second year following requests from locals who enjoyed the first years events.
The Old Talbot Beer Festival is a major event in the village and Dave and Tina, who run the pub, and the rest of the festival team are working even harder this year to ensure that this years event will be a success and help raise the funding needed by the Scouts and Guides.
So, please put the date in your diary and come along to a great weekend of real ale and entertainment so that you can also help the Hilton Scouts and Guides complete their building project.
