Jan 13th, 2010 | By Editor | Category: The Brewhouse, Whats OnStorytelling in Bereavement Workshop with Janet Dowling
How do people come to terms with loss such as a bereavement? How can those working with them support the process of coming to terms with loss and moving on? In this workshop you will explore the gentle yet powerful approach of working with stories, traditional and personal, to facilitate healing in loss.
Janet Dowling is a professional storyteller and trained psychiatric social worker, who uses these approaches in her therapeutic work. She has a private practice as a hypnotherapist & therapeutic storyteller, and works as a volunteer for Cruse Bereavement care. She continues to work as a professional storyteller in schools in London and the South East and for three years was the resident Therapeutic Storyteller at the Children’s Trust in Tadworth, Surrey. She was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship for storytelling with the dying and bereaved. She has delivered workshops in therapeutic storytelling in London, Leeds, Vancouver, Kuwait City and Nazareth.
