This evening there’s the usual choice of live music with Gringo appearing at The Northern Renegades and The Savannah Jazz Band performing at Burton Jazz Club. Also this evening (or late afternoon really) there is a parade of Chinese Lanterns outside Burton Library.
Tonight, tomorrow and on Saturday you have the chance to see Burton Operatic’s performance of the comedy musical ‘Me and My Girl’ and also for theatre fans, the comedy ‘I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change’ is being performed at The Brewhouse both tomorrow and Saturday.
Tomorrow is of course Halloween and so there are a couple of Halloween related events: Firstly there is Halloween Racing at Uttoxeter which doesn’t sound all that spooky but you are promised Halloween fun between the races. There is also a Halloween Ghost Walk at Rosliston Forestry Centre.
For those looking for non-Halloween events tomorrow there is Eddie and the Hotrods appearing at Conkers and master fiddler Tom McConville performing at the Brew Town Folk Club.
On Saturday there is a choice of no less than four fireworks displays with the big bang theory being tested at tutbury Castle, Uttoxeter, Rosliston Forestry Centre and at Klondyke Mill in Draycott. ** Don’t forget that there are other fireworks display during next week and on Saturday 8th too!
Not so explosive events on Saturday include Burton Albion playing at home to Ebbsfleet United and a Soul Night at Burton Town Hall.
cineworld cinema highlights this week include ‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘High School Musical 3′, ‘Saw V’ and ‘Ghost Town’.
As usual, details of all the above can be found on the InBurton what’s on page.

Image via WikipediaTonight there’s Gunsmoke appearing at The Northern Renegades Country Music Club as well as Four In A Bar (also known as a quiet pub) and Bobby Ludlum appearing at Burton Jazz Club.
Tomorrow (Friday) there’s a 5 mile canal walk at Alrewas as part of the Use Your Paths Week and also the Climax Blues Band (described as ‘one of the most consistently entertaining of all the outfits to emerge from the British Blues Boom of the late sixties’) are appearing at Conkers in Moira.
On Saturday there’s quite a good variety of events for you. If you’re a footy fan then Burton Albion are at home to Forest Green Rovers. For gaming fans, the Raiders of the Game Cupboard are having their quarterly board gaming event. Opus Theatre Company are presenting ‘Confessions of Honour’ at The Brewhouse which is a witty play about a Victoria Cross Veteran and in Uttoxeter, there’s a Harvest Festival Farmer’s Market with a feast of locally produced foods and crafts.
Also on Saturday, and continuing on Sunday, there’s a Model Boat Speed Records Weekend at Branston Water Park and the chance to get steaming in stretton! The annual Model Boat Speed event attracts competitors from all over the UK as well from abroad. Will anyone beat the 105.37mph record this year? The Steaming Event in stretton gives you the chance to see up to 22 engines in steam including 4 Beam Engines and 5 Lancashire Boilers.
On Sunday there is a Living History Camp at tutbury Castle which gives you chance to see how our soldiers lived, drilled and cooked before Pot Noodle became readily available.
cineworld cinema highlights this week include ‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘Taken’, ‘Righteous Kill’, ‘Death Race’ (two happy sounding films!), ‘The Duchess’ and ‘Mamma Mia’.
As usual, details of all the above can be found on the InBurton what’s on page.

Image via Wikipedia Lovely weather we’re having again! I’m still waiting for the Indian Summer that some were promising but I think it’s perhaps still in India at the moment! It’s a busy week for what’s on events this week so let’s get cracking with…
* what’s on in Burton This Week *
Tonight (Thursday) there’s a choice of live music with Jim Ryder and Adam James appearing at The Northern Renegades Country Music Club and Bill Bailey’s All Star Celebrity Band appearing at Burton Jazz Club.
Tomorrow night in stretton there’s a Talk by Master Thatcher at Burton Floral Art Society. Please note that anyone who is expecting this to be a talk on map reading from our ex-female-Prime-Minister’s son may be disappointed!
On Saturday there’s a 6 mile walk in Anslow (I didn’t realise Anslow was that big), a Motability talk and display at The Meadowside, a Best of The Eagles concert at Conkers and a Paranormal Event in tutbury. This includes ghost walks, investigations, stalls and fancy dress and is in aid of local charities.
On both Saturday and Sunday this week there is a Beer Festival at The Old Talbot in Hilton as well as a Fireboat Funday at Branston Water Park which includes vintage model boats from the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. This weekend is also your last chance to visit The Maize Maze in Tatenhill for this year.
On Sunday there is a plant fair in stapenhill, The Big British Mini Day at Catton Hall and a Mediaeval Rock Concert at tutbury Castle. This is apparently a ‘rock concert with a difference’ and could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for to reacquaint yourself with ‘maiden fronted heavy drone folk’!
On Monday there’s the annual Abbots Bromley Horn Dance which is a 13th century custom where men parade and dance with their horns around the village.
And finally, all of next week (Tuesday to Saturday), The Mellow Dramatics are performing the hit musical ‘Hello Dolly’ at The Brewhouse Arts Centre.
cineworld cinema highlights this week include ‘Step Brothers’, ‘Get Smart’, ‘Hellboy 2”Babylon A.D.’, ‘Mamma Mia’, and ‘Step Brothers’.
As usual, details of all the above can be found on the InBurton what’s on page HERE.
That’s yer lot for today, have a great weekend!
Best regards,
Chris
