Tonight there is a choice of live music with Jazz Pzazz performing at Burton Jazz Club and The Nelson Boys performing at The Northern Renegades Country Music Club. There is also a concert using early type instruments in rolleston Church.

Tomorrow (Friday 15th) The Bloodstock Metal Music Festival begins at Catton Park. This runs until Sunday and is an open air festival featuring bands such as Overkill, Helloween and Nightwish. This may NOT be the ideal event to take your Gran to!

On Saturday it’s all happening in stretton with both Burton Albion at home to Woking and also an Allotment Open Day! The open day is a free event that gives you the chance to get some gardening tips and learn about the benefits of growing your own fruit and veg. There’s also a BBQ and tombola as well as stalls selling veg, plants and cakes. This event is only on from 10am to 1pm though so there’s not a very big allotment of time for it!

Also on Saturday there’s a Guitar Greats concert at Conkers featuring the music of Dire Straits, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix as well as a Charity Gig in aid of Burton Hospital at The Town Hall.

On Sunday, if you fancy a wander, there’s a Bird Walk at barton Marina but I understand that men are allowed too.

cineworld cinema highlights this week include ‘The Mummy’, ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Wild Child’, ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ and ‘You Don’t Mess with the Zohan’.
