Whats On in Burton on Trent This Weekend….

Posted in October 9th, 2008

* what’s on in Burton This Weekend *

This evening for the Jazz fan, there’s New Orleans Heat appearing at Burton Jazz Club but if wearing a Stetson is more your thing then Terry Maher is performing at The Northern Renegades Country Music Club.

Tomorrow, Aynsley Lister (I like his mints!) is performing his own style of Blues at The Brewhouse and there is a performance of Alan Bennett’s ‘Talking Heads’ in Tatenhill.

On Saturday, Burton Albion are at home to Mansfield Town (CORRECTION!! - This game has now been re-arranged to Monday 13th at 7.45pm) and in the evening there’s a choice of Ceroc Dancing at the Town Hall or a History Talk and Ghost Walk around tutbury. This apparently includes demonstrations and a workshop ….. I’m not sure if that means you need to take your own white sheet though!

On Sunday there doesn’t seem to be a great deal happening although there is a wedding Fair at rolleston Church.

During next week there’s a chance to see Lloyd Ryan Banging for Britain at The Brewhouse. No, it’s not an x-rated event…. Lloyd is actually one of Britain’s most accomplished drummers who will be demonstrating his skills. Also on Wednesday, there’s a talk about Pub Signs at The Meadowside Leisure Centre. My own favourite pub signs have for many years been ‘Open’ and ‘Free Beer’ although the latter is getting somewhat rare these days!

cineworld cinema highlights this week include ‘The House Bunny’, ‘Mirrors’, ‘How to Lose Friends and Alienate People’ and ‘City of Ember’.

As usual, details of all the above can be found on the InBurton what’s on page.

*** Announcing…… The Burton Good News Wall ***

Well, you said it was a good idea so the Good News Wall is now live!!  Please help us to get it rolling by visiting now and adding your own news. It really doesn’t matter if you just say you’ve had a lovely cheese pie in the staff canteen today …. your news really can help to brighten up the day! You can visit the wall now HERE.

Finally for today, I’d like to add my congratulations to Ross Boardman at Burton restaurant, 99 Station Street, who has just scooped two awards (Winner - Newcomer of the Year 2008 and 2nd Place - Brasserie of the Year 2008) at the Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards.  You can see more information about 99 Station Street HERE.

That’s yer lot for today, have a great weekend!

Best regards,

Chris
