Campaign Consultation for tutbury Teens

Residents in tutbury are being encouraged to have their say on the type of equipment installed at the tutbury Mill site for young people in the area.

Children, young people and adults are all invited to a consultation at the Youth Club on Cornmill Lane on Saturday, February 9thbetween 2.00pm and 4.00pm.

The consultation event will be an opportunity to talk to members of the tutbury Teen Campaign, see plans for tutbury Mill and vote on the type of equipment to be installed.

The tutbury Teen Campaign was set up in 2005 in response to a survey of students from de Ferrers School about the lack of outdoor recreational facilities for young people in tutbury.

The group have done lots of fundraising over the past 12 months and have been successful in being awarded grants from, the Big Lottery Children’s Play Fund, Staffordshire Youth Service Youth Capital Fund, Trent and Dove, East Staffordshire Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council small capital grants, to name a few.

Young people from tutbury and local residents formed a constituted group to look at a location for a facility and raise funds.  East Staffordshire Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council Youth Service have been supporting the group from its foundation.

It is hoped that construction will start on site in late April/early May with the facility being opened in the summer.
