Park Almost Ready for First Play

Work is almost completed on the new Unity Park on Princess Street in Burton upon Trent.

This exciting development is still on track to be completed in September and will include a play area, seating and a ball court, along with separate cricket and basketball practice areas.

The site has been neglected over the years and East Staffordshire Borough Council is now hoping that the redevelopment will encourage greater and more responsible use of the park.

Partnership working has been critical in developing and fundraising. Key members are Shobnall Parish Council and the Heart of Burton Partnership.

Councillor Bernard Peters, the Deputy Leader for Health and Leisure, said: “I am very much looking forward to the day when we can officially open this wonderful new facility to the public and in the meantime I would like to extend my thanks to all the other partners who have made a contribution to this important project.”
