ESBC Offers Church Group Temporary Home
East Staffordshire Borough Council has offered a temporary home to the church group who recently had their building ravaged by fire.
The Christian International Ministries (CIM) church building on Horninglow Road, Burton on Trent caught fire in the early hours of November 6th. The damage was extensive and the building has had to be demolished.
Since the incident, CIM have been looking to re-house their training and resource centre so that they can continue with their work in the community.
The Council have now stepped in to help by agreeing to grant the lease of a workshop within the Midland Grain Warehouse, which is currently on the market for sale.
This has meant relocating items stored in the workshop at short notice so that CIM can move in as soon as possible.
CIM Founder and Senior Pastor, Stephen Watson expressed his thanks to the Council for a prompt response to their emergency and kind support shown by Council staff.
He said: “We are extremely grateful to East Staffordshire Borough Council, particularly the facilities team. They have eased the stress of our transition to temporary office accommodation at this difficult time, enabling the Ministry to continue with its daily administration. The support of the Council has been fantastic in this endeavour.”
The Council’s Deputy Leader for Corporate Services, Councillor Richard Grosvenor approved the transaction, adding: “I am very pleased that East Staffordshire Borough Council is able to reach out and help out at least one of the groups that have been so badly affected by this fire.
“I know there were other businesses who have lost their premises or suffered extreme damage after the fire went through the buildings who would not find it as easy to re-locate to a temporary venue, but at least this way the church group will be able to continue functioning.
“I wish all the people affected by the fire the very best of luck in rebuilding their businesses and getting back to normal as soon as possible.”
