The roof top car park at Burton Place Shopping Centre is due to re-open following major refurbishment work – one week ahead of schedule.
East Staffordshire Borough Council has completed the project one week early and will re-open the car park to drivers on the morning of Thursday, March 20th.
The scheme has involved stripping back the existing surfacing on the car park and access ramp and replacing it with a new waterproof membrane.
The parking layout has also been enhanced with the use of coloured surfacing materials to clearly define the parking bays and pedestrian areas.
The number of disabled blue badge bays has also been increased in accordance with current guidance.
To improve security at night, the gates to the rooftop will be locked between 8.30pm and 7.30am.
Councillor Robert Hardwick, Deputy Leader for Development and Regeneration said ” I am delighted that we can re-open the car park ahead of schedule and in advance of the important Easter shopping weekend.
“We have worked hard to create a modern, safer parking facility which will benefit both drivers and Burton Place Shopping Centre.”
