Alans 3500 Mile Trip - Update 2
Here is Alan Lowe’s second update on his 3500 mile sponsored motor bike ride around the outskirts of the UK in aid of the MS Society and the Burton Operatic Raise the Roof Appeal:
Day 3
Breakfast at 8am and another good one and I get to try a bit of Haggis which I like, on the road for 9am weather looks a bit bleak as I head through Inverness, there are loads of castles to visit and there an awful lot of distilleries too.

At the first castle I stop at I pulled in to I met another biker, Rick Moore.

He’d ridden up from Ipswich he was going the same way so we went on together, the A9 and |A99 are fantastic with twists and turns unfortunately the cloud level was so low that visibility was next to nothing and the roads were wet to our speed dropped a lot, as we got to John O’ Groats the weather cleared a bit, we stopped here for 30 mins and chatted to another group of riders and they hoped the weather would improve also.

From here its across the top of Scotland along the A836 all the way to Durness, and what a road!!!

The views are fantastic, we get some very heavy rain and I can feel cold water running into my boot, nothing worse for a biker to feel then when one of his water proof measures fail and you feel that errrr!! Even with a wet left foot its all good, the road half way to Durness goes to single track for the rest of the way but traffic is light and the weather has picked up, I say my good byes to Rick and press on, I get used to the single track and really get some speed going, the views are still awesome and I come across a bay that is beautiful and stop for a while.

I remove the water proofs for the first time today, 10 minutes later I’m at KEOLDALE B& B for the night.

Talk to you tomorrow Al.
Keep up to date with Alan’s future updates HERE and you can still sponsor his ride if you wish by going HERE.
