Overnight resurfacing work begins on the northbound A38 near Derby    

A three mile section of the northbound A38 between the Toyota Interchange and A516 Mickleover junction will be resurfaced overnight from Monday, 18 June to Friday, 13 July.

In order to keep disruption to a minimum, the work will be carried out when traffic flows are lightest, between 8pm and 6am, each night from Monday to Saturday, and will involve full closure of the northbound carriageway.

Traffic will be diverted west down the A50 then north to the A516 to rejoin the A38 at Mickleover.

The northbound slip roads at the Findern roundabout will be closed occasionally to allow for resurfacing works. There will be advance notice of the closure dates and clear diversion routes will be signed to help drivers.

Two laybys on the northbound section of the A38 to be resurfaced will be permanently closed for safety reasons.

Highways Agency project sponsor Kam Khokhar said:

“By closing this section of road, we will be able to complete the work in a much shorter time while also providing our contractors with a safer working environment.

“Because traffic is lighter overnight, drivers should not experience too many delays, especially as the diversion route is relatively short.
