Waste Less for Recycle Week
Jun 16th, 2010 | By Chris Towland | Category: Burton StuffReducing waste is once again the theme for this year’s Recycle Week, which kicks off on Monday, June 21st.
The campaign is entering its seventh year and it gives local authorities the opportunity to promote recycling in their local area.
This year activities will be based around the recycling of small WEEE items (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment) and using the message “Let?s Waste Less” as people are encouraged to recycle redundant small electrical items at the local household waste and recycling centres instead of just throwing them away.
Examples of the types of electrical items that can be recycled through the local household waste and recycling centres at Shobnall Road, Burton upon Trent and Pennycroft Lane, Uttoxeter are hi fi units, hairdryers, kettles, toasters, drills, lawnmowers and coffee machines.
East Staffordshire Borough Council?s Waste Services team will be promoting Recycle Week at the Gardening Olympics being held at Shobnall Leisure Complex on Saturday, June 26th.
Members of East Staffordshire Borough Councils Waste Services Team will be on hand to answer any queries residents have about the waste and recycling services running in East Staffordshire and will be handing out some promotional items.
Recycle Week is a campaign that is organised by WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) in partnership with leading materials recycling organisations British Glass, Corus, Novelis and Recoup.
