New Community Campaign on Road Safety in Burton on Trent
Aug 26th, 2010 | By Chris Towland | Category: Burton StuffDrivers who may not be used to England’s road rules or conditions are being targeted in a new awareness campaign from local authorities in East Staffordshire.
East Staffordshire Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council and Staffordshire Police are working together to launch a Road Safety Campaign primarily aimed at helping residents who are new to the country.
However, all members of the public are welcome to attend these surgeries whether they recently moved into the area or have been living in the community for some time.
Councillor Julia Jessel, Deputy Leader for Built Environment, said: “East Staffordshire has a diverse community and a number of our residents have grown up and learnt to drive in a different country, particularly residents from Eastern Europe, where some road regulations and laws are different.
“These surgeries are an excellent opportunity for these drivers to come along and discuss, or brush up, on UK law.”
Anyone who has questions about Road Safety is welcome to attend these monthly sessions.
The following topics and many more subjects will be covered on the following dates and times:
• Friday 10th September – 10.00am till 12noon. Topics covered: Distractions whilst driving (e.g. mobile phones, satellite navigation systems, music etc).
