On Sunday 21st March 2010, East Staffordshire Borough Council will ‘rise to the challenge’ and will hold its 3rd Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile 2010 in aid of Sport Relief.
The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile 2010 will take place at Shobnall Leisure Complex, Burton upon Trent, from 12.00pm to 4.00pm (first race is set to start at 12.30pm). It is open to people of all ages and abilities.
A wide range of fun filled activities will also be available on the day, so not only will the day be a fantastic opportunity to raise money for Sport Relief, but will also be an exciting day out for the whole family. There will be other fun activities on the day such as face painters, the use of the onsite activities including a children’s play area, Skate Park, tennis courts, mini golf and an outdoor basketball court.
By getting involved in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile 2010 you will be raising money to help change the lives of people all over the world. Half of the money raised will stay in the United Kingdom to offer children and adults around the country the possibility of living a better life and giving them a brighter future. The other half of the money will go to some of the world’s poorest countries where they face extreme poverty and with the reality of abuse and exploitation.
To make a difference, people will be asked to ‘rise to the challenge’ and run, walk, stagger or crawl one, three or six miles for Sport Relief. People can pledge their support by entering online at www.sportrelief.com. Forms can also be collected at branches of Sainsbury’s, GP surgeries, Burton Town Hall, East Staffordshire Leisure Centres, Burton Hospital and local gyms across the town.
If anybody would be interested in volunteering to help out on the day or for more information please contact Alex Britton on sportsdevelopment@eaststaffsbc.gov.uk or 07854138331/01283 505910.
