David Messenger, Managing Director of the Elder Homes Group, which runs the Burton Bridge and Trent Court care home in Staffordshire has been shortlisted for the Care Entrepreneur of the Year Award of 2009, organised by Caring Times magazine!
The annual awards ceremony celebrates excellence in long term care. This category not only looks for the person who has shown the most initiative in the past 12 months, particularly in the current economic climate, but also at the level of care provided and the welfare of the residents in the establishment.
Winners will be announced at the Gala night celebration, hosted by Ruby Wax, on November 28th at the Hilton Metropole, London.
David Messenger has been involved in the care industry for over twenty years. A defining feature of David’s leadership throughout this period has been his positive and forward-thinking attitude of what can be achieved in the care industry, and in particular, improvements that can be made to the lives of dementia sufferers.
Around 700,000 people in the UK are dementia sufferers, and Alzheimer’s disease is the most common, affecting around 417,000 people in the UK. On a local level, David says “it is fantastic to visit the homes and see how the residents are benefitting from improvements we are constantly making.”
