East Staffordshire Borough Council’s Sport Development Team is continuing the successful Back to Netball and junior netball sessions this January, sessions start back on Thursday 16th January and will continue up to Easter.
Junior session for 11 – 15 year olds will take place 5pm – 6pm followed by the Back to Netball session for 16+ 6pm – 7pm. Both sessions will take place at the Meadowside Leisure Centre.
The first session is targeting young people wanting to learn how to play the game, and involves fun practices, coaching drills giving participants an opportunity to learn the rules of the game improve and develop their skills through weekly training sessions and games.
The second session is aimed at anyone 16 years and over wanting to return to the sport or start playing netball. Players do not have to have any experience of the game or worry that they are letting the side down; it is just a fun session that aims to get more people playing sport, while improving their health and fitness. The coach will introduce a new skill each week followed by a friendly game at the end of the session. New participants are welcome to join both sessions.
Councillor Bernard Peters, Deputy Leader for Service Commissioning, said: “Netball is a great way to get fit and have fun. The junior session is a perfect introduction to the senior game. The Back 2 Netball session is suitable for a wide range of people who have not played the game for a few years. There will be no team sheet, just good fun, turn up with loose fitting clothing, trainers and water.
“These netball sessions are another example of the Council’s ongoing commitment to our healthy borough initiatives.”
